In Perth on 17 August, the Commissioner of Police received a telegram from Sub-Inspector Houlahan, of Broome, stating that a man named John King committed suicide at Balfour Downs station, Nullagine, on the 13th inst. by shooting himself. King had been ill for some considerable time.
