On or about 14 January 1907, two men left Condon for the Rabbit Proof Fence. They were Edward Hall and William McGuiness. They were informed that the roadwork had ceased there for a time, so they made for Moolyella tin fields, out from Marble Bar. Between Muccan and Talga Talga stations, Hall took ill but managed to reach Talga Talga about 2pm on 8 February and rested under a tree.
McGuiness obtained some food from Miss Greene, but Hall was able to take only a small quantity. He afterwards procured milk and eggs and endeavoured to give some to Hall but to no avail, as Hall had slipped from consciousness. The man's temperature was taken by Mr Greene Jnr, who found it to be 110 degrees. A stretcher was procured for the purpose of conveying the unfortunate fellow to the house but he was then found to be dead, having expired about an hour after reaching the station. The cause of death had every appearance of heat apoplexy.
The police were at once informed and the body was buried on the following morning. Constable Thompson proceeded to the station from Marble Bar to make the necessary investigation. After exhuming, he examined and re-interred the body. He also found that everything possible had been done on behalf of the sufferer.
