Biography

Mr Pierce died at his post at the State Battery whilst assisting the interests of Messrs Fisher and Parkinson's crushing. Mr Pierce spent most of his life prospecting in Sandstone. He was also a returned soldier from the last war. Service No 3444 11th Battalion AIF He was laid to rest in the same grave as that of his mother, Elizabeth, whom he buried approximately 22 years before. Elizabeth died of paralysis and stroke in 1923. She was 71 years of age. The mother and son rest in the Church of England portion of the Sandstone Cemetery, in plot number 35.
