Arrived from South Australia in 1896
John McCarthy, was in charge of stock for Messrs Connolly and Green, butchers, Maninga Marley. Whilst suffering from the effects of drink, he fell from his dray and the wheel passed over his chest. Two ribs were broken, which lacerated his lungs. He succumbed after lingering in the hospital for five days.
He came from South Australia and had a sister on the Eastern fields.
The deceased is buried in the Roman Catholic portion of the cemetery, plot number 4.
