Biography

George Smith died at the Wurarga Hotel on Tuesday, 15th. He had been employed at Gabyou Station for some months but, in consequence of severe illness, it was thought advisable to send him to Yalgoo Hospital. He got as far as Wurarga but succumbed there a few hours before the train arrived. An inquest was not thought to be necessary. He was buried by Police Constable James Gordon (Regimental No 291) one mile west of Wurarga in the Yalgoo district. Witnesses present at the burial were William Mooney and Edward Dinning.
