The deceased had suffered for 6 days before succumbing to his final condition. He had lived in New South Wales for 43 years before arriving in Western Australia. The first application for old age pensions in the Kookynie district, was made by Jeremiah O'Brien and his wife, which was duly recommended by Warden Gibbons. These folks were verging on 80 years of age. They landed in New South Wales in 1860 and resided in Australia and New Zealand ever since. Mary lived until 31 May 1919 when she died in Kalgoorlie (Death Registration 90/1919, East Coolgardie).
