Cause of Death: Struck by a dislodged rock

The deceased was buried at Paynesville Cemetery with an iron railing around the grave and a headstone. He was buried by Walter Missingham and the burial was witnessed by Thomas Duncan and James F Ryan. Death was certified in writing by Archibald Morton, a friend from Paynesville. Harbordt was killed by a fall of stone in the shaft of the Lady Maude Gold Mine at Paynesville. When brought to the surface, he asked what hit him, but his skull was fractured and he died soon after.

The verdict of the Coroners enquiry was that the deceased came to his death from a blow on the head caused by a rock fall in the water shaft being sunk on the Lady Maud Lease.

The .men of Paynesville showed their respect to their deceased friend and comrade, Ernest Harbordt, by erecting a handsome iron railing around his grave at a cost of £15.

Harbordt was one of 13 children who were born within 24 years. The children's father, Anton Hardbordt, who was born in 1843, died on 11 November 1907 at the age of 64, and was buried in Kew, Victoria.  His wife, Ann, was born 16 August 1847 in Richmond, Victoria and died on 16 May 1920 in Caulfield, Victoria, at the age of 72.  She was buried in Kew, Victoria.

Cause of Death: Suicide by Gunshot

The deceased was buried by Police Constable John Patrick Markey (Regimental Number 1378), Sandstone, witnessed by Gilbert Moses JP.   He was found dead in his camp, a rifle lying on the bed alongside and a large wound in the back of the head.

Cause of Death: From a Bucket Falling Down a Mine Shaft

The deceased was buried by Arthur Otto Peck, witnessed by John O'Regan and Thomas Payne. Death came about by the breaking of a rope which caused a bucket to fall down the mine shaft upon him at the Surprise Lease. The deceased was one of the owners of the lease and an old pioneer of the Mt Magnet district.

The deceased was buried by Edward S Moses. The burial was witnessed by GO Moses and Police Constable William Walter Hearn (Regimental Number 1342), Mt Magnet.

The deceased had been in indifferent health for some time and was found dead in bed by the licensee of the Paynesville Hotel, Mr Edward S Moses. He had been a sufferer from heart trouble for some time. He had only recently arrived in Paynesville after spending most of his time in the Kimberleys.
