Male Child DODD (more)

Cause of Death:

Sarah Mabel Bell was born at Yalgoo in either 1880 or 1883. She had a brother, Patrick Bell, who was born in Yalgoo in 1880. Sarah and her partner, Henry Joseph Long, of Coorow, had two children together, a daughter, Edith Rose, and a son, Bert William. Both children were baptised under her surname of Bell but later used their father's surname of Long. On 27 September 1906, Sarah married Henry Dodd (Marriage Registration 6/1906, Irwin). They had at least nine children, although one family source lists 14 children, five of whom did not survive infancy. They were: Charles Irwin born 1903, Ivy May born 1905; Ida Emma Maude born 1907; Henry born 1909; Alma Myrtle born 1909; Arthur Edward born 1914; Louis John Isaac born 1916; Unnamed male born 1918; Austin Jacob born 1919; Evelyn born 1921 (died 1921); Mary 1922 (died 1922); Unnamed male stillborn 1923; Kathleen born 1 September 1925 (died 1925); Jack stillborn 13 October 1926. Sarah died 7 August 1939 and is buried at the Utakarra Cemetery in Geraldton. Her husband died on 10 May 1941 in Geraldton. Henry Dodd was a farmer and labourer in Arrino from 1900-1922, where he was a very keen sportsman. He may have resided in Arrino until 1932 and later resided in Geraldton. Kathleen, Jack, Mary and another unnamed stillborn male from the Dodd family are all remembered in this website.
