Biography

The twins were born and buried on the same day in the same plot, number 10, of the Methodist portion of the cemetery. Their older siblings were Harold Frederick Joseph, born 23 March 1907 in Victoria (Birth Registration 8734/1907, Buninyong, Victoria) and Rachael Violet born in Geraldton in 1908 (Birth Registration 165/1908, Geraldton). Rachael died in 1924 in Murchison at the age of 16 years. The children's parents were married 5 June 1906 in Murchison (Marriage Registration 8/1906, Murchison). Joseph died 4 January 1942 in Cue and Louisa died 11 January 1951 in Murchison. In his obituary, it was stated that the late Mr Lush was born at Brighton, Victoria, 65 years before. At the age of 23 years he came to Western Australia and went to Meekatharra in the days of the coach. He followed engine-driving on mines at Meekatharra, Wiluna, Cue, Sandstone and Youanmi and was also engaged in car driving for Bewick Motoring and Co. and Cobb and Co. It is believed he drove one of the first motor cars to arrive in this State and certainly the first car on the Murchison.
