Biography

Of a large proportion of the men employed in the Wiluna mines who have been affected by the influenza outbreak, William Bradstreet was the first to die of pneumonia following influenza. At the time, the hospital was already overtaxed and there were a large number of cases in the district.

The deceased was a popular member of the Underground Cricket and Football Clubs and was also a swimmer of note. Sympathy was extended to his brother on the death of William.

Their father, John Charles Ernest Bradstreet, was born in Singleton, New South Wales, on 18 November 1876. He married Louisa Jane Hill at Kookynie on 23 April 1901. She was born 4 February 1878 at Quirindi, New South Wales, and bore her husband four children at Kookynie before dying in childbirth on 22 December 1912 at Leonora. Both Louisa Jane and her unborn child appear in this website. They are buried at Leonora.
