It was believed he contracted pneumonia some three months before, when he spent a bitter night in the bush, having lost his way in the mulga whilst en route to East Lynne. He was a brother of Mr Ker, of the British Embassy staff under Sir Claude MacDonald during the siege of Peking. The funeral was attended by members of the public and the Masonic Lodge, of which he was a member.
