Biography

The deceased was ill for two days before his death and "died suddenly after a fit of vomiting". The area was experiencing extreme heat at that time. There followed some considerable 'discussion' via the newspapers between the coroner and two magistrates as to why the body was buried without a post mortem, yet a certificate of death was issued. Cause of death was also under discussion, with even poisoning being suggested.
