John Brandon TAYLOR (more)

Cause of Death: Natural Causes; Heart Failure (probable)

Alias John Brendan.

When he was quite young, the deceased's family moved to Sydney where he was educated.

His brother William Henry Taylor was apprenticed to the trade as a carpenter in Toowoomba when he was aged twelve. William moved to Dalby where he built the Church of England Rectory, the Council Offices and the Roman Catholic Church. He also married his wife, Mary Ellen, in Dalby in 1884. William Henry Taylor and his family moved to Jondaryan around 1903. John Brandon Taylor joined his brother and family at the Jondaryan Woolshed where the brothers were employed as carpenters.

In 1913, John was employed on Elmina, Bollon as a carpenter and in 1914 moved to the Telegraph Hotel, Charleville, where he was working as a carpenter.  William Henry, who was living in Toowoomba at the time, is listed as the informant of his brother’s death.  John Brandon is buried in the Langlo Crossing Historical cemetery.

Cause of Death: Consumption

Very little is known of “John.” John would not be his birth name. He was native of the Solomon Islands and had been suffering from consumption for six months. It is presumed he was brought to Australia as a labourer through one on the incentive schemes of the time.

John is buried at Dulbydilla.
