The deceased was buried by the police, 10 miles north of Yellowdine on the old 90-Mile road. The informant of his death was Corporal John McCarthy, Southern Cross. His grave is marked by a marble monument and pipe railing enclosure.

He suicided by blowing his brains out with a revolver whilst boring for water on the road from Southern Cross to the 90-Mile. For many years he was in the Banks of Adelaide and AC Bank in Adelaide.  Davidson put down the bore that first supplied fresh water on the Coolgardie field. He was the most successful borer in the Water Supply Department and struck the sand plain supply and many others on the Southern Cross-Coolgardie track.

He had a sister, Mrs Wigg, in Melbourne.  Janet Davidson was born at Galshiels, Melrose Parish, on 14 July 1847 to Margaret (nee Laidlaw) and John Davidson. It is not known whether this is the sister referred to above, who was residing in Melbourne at the time of the death of Thomas Davidson.
