Mary Ann (ROBINSON) ANDREWS (more)

Cause of Death:

Mary Ann was the second child of six born in Middlesex to Margaret Maria and William Robinson. William died at sea on 8 January 1843, during the voyage to Australia with his family. Mary Ann was nine at the time. Her siblings were William Albert born 1830; Maria Frances born 1837; Edward born 1839; Martha Jane born 1840; Rosa Jane born 1842. On 31 March 1846, at Guildford, the children's mother, Margaret Maria, married John Seabrook Senior and bore him a further five children. In the late 1850s, William and Mary Ann started their life together in a three-roomed stone cottage on the side of Lake Hugel. Since then, members of the Andrews family have lived at Norring Lake, making it one of the longest continuous ownerships of a farming property in the Great Southern. Tragedy struck when Mary Ann and their two daughters died and they were all buried at Norring Lake. Mary Ann and William Andrews had three known children. However, on their property at Norring Lake, near Wagin, Mary Ann is buried in a stone-walled enclosure with two of her daughters. The names of these two little daughters are unknown and have not been identified. Mary Ann and William's two known daughters both grew to adulthood and had families of their own. Following the death of Mary Ann in 1866, her widowed husband, William, married Edith Bailey in York in 1869 and moved to Moojebing. Later, his son, Henry Edward, married and reared a large family of seven daughters and two sons at Lake Norring. William died on 12 November 1898, aged 73 years.
