Cause of Death: Killed by Natives

This stockman, whose name and age are unknown, was killed by Aborigines with his own gun, in about 1896.  A labourer named Moses Smith died at Mt Sandiman in the same year.  At that time, an Englishman named Robert Newman owned the leases of Mt Sandiman Station and later the lease was sold to the Bird family.

The deceased is buried on Mt Sandiman Station (now part of Minnie Creek Station) in the Gascoyne district.  His grave, outlined with white stones, is located about100 miles south of the homestead and about 25 miles off the old main road.
