Biography

Jessie Veronica is buried in Plot 4 of the Church of England portion of the cemetery. The child's parents were married in Lawlers in 1905 (Marriage Reg.No.1064/1905, Lawlers), with her father's name listed as "DEGHERT". Jessie was one of 10 children. Her siblings were: Dorothy Alice born 1905 in South Australia; Frederick J born 1907 East Murchison; Carmel J (or Jean Camille) born 1910 in Geraldton; Phyllis V born 1911 in Perth; Charles Herbert born 1916, William H born 1919, Bessie Jewel born 1922 and Marjorie Lorraine born 1924, all in Broken Hill, New South Wales; and Laurie Merle born 1924, probably also in Broken Hill. Their father died in a car accident at Horrocks Pass, near Wilmington, South Australia, in 1933 and is buried in the same grave in Broken Hill as his son, Charles Herbert, who died in 1927. Their mother, Annie, died in Broken Hill in 1971.
