Biography

Jane's first husband, John Howard, was born in 1798 at Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, England. He was 32 years her senior. He was married first to Elizabeth Cusen Carter in London in 1830. The couple had 10 children between 1830 and 1845.  John Howard, died 13 October 1874 at Salt Creek in South Australia.

Five years later, Jane married Charles Thomas who, it is believed, died in 1944 in Western Australia. There does not appear to have been any children from the second marriage. Jane had lived in South Australia for 43 years before moving to Western Australia. Jane's sons (the Howard Brothers) moved from South Australia in 1904 and took up land in the Cuballing district.
