The child's father, Charles Henry Frew, was born 4 November 1879 at Duncans Creek, New South Wales. He married Mary Wake on 28 November 1900 at Hillgrove, New South Wales. She was born in 1871 at Paterson, New South Wales. The marriage produced 8 children. Of the four girls and four boys in the family, Elsie was the fourth child born. Her siblings were: Reuben Charles born 1901, died 1904; Phyllis Edna born 1903, died 1904; Robert Archibald Henry born 1905; William Thomas born 1908, died 1909; Irene Elizabeth born 1910; Jack Edward born 1912; Margaret Rachel born 1914.

Charles Henry died 7 September 1934 at Wallsend, New South Wales. His wife died there on 31 January 1947.

Little Elsie Maud's two oldest siblings, Phyllis Edna and Reuben Charles, both died in a house fire at Kookynie in 1904. Their stories appear in this website. All three children are buried together in Plot 9 of the Anglican Portion of the Kookynie Cemetery.  Sadly, another brother, William Thomas, died of pneumonia on 20 March 1909 and is buried in the Mt Morgans Cemetery.  His story, too, appears in this website.
