Biography

Died on or about 14 February. Death was certified in writing by William Marshall, his brother from Pendinnie. Thursday 16 February, it was reported in the Coolgardie Miner that "The body of Thomas Marshall was found by a man named Hil!, who was returning from Yerilla to Griffithston yesterday. The deceased was lying on his face, about fifty yards off the track, twelve miles from here. The legs were contracted, as if he died in great pain, probably through an apoplectic fit, as the face was quite black, and blood was oozing from the mouth. The remains will be brought in tonight, and Warden Owen has been requested to arrange for the holding of an inquest." The inquest subsequently found that Marshall died of thirst. Deceased had lived in Victoria for 24 years.
