James Mahoney died suddenly. As he was walking through the yard of the Great Eastern Hotel, Lawlers, he was seen to fall. Dr. Olivey was sent for, but could no nothing, as Mahoney had burst a blood
vessel and expired in a few minutes.
The deceased had been in delicate health for the previous 12 months. A certificate of
death was given by the medical officer, rendering an inquest unnecessary.
The deceased was buried in Plot 19, Section C, in the 3rd row north.
