The deceased was admitted to the hospital on 28th March, suffering from intestinal cancer. However, little hope
was held for his recovery. An
operation was deemed necessary and Dr. Walker, of Sir Samuel, was sent for to
assist. The visiting doctor arrived on the Thursday evening, and on Friday morning a consultation took place, and the operation was performed.
Fletcher seemed to rally for a day or two but on Monday he appeared to grow worse, dying
the following morning.
Fletcher had been employed for some time by Mr J. Smith, butcher, of the Vivien, as a shepherd.
The deceased is buried in Plot 34, Section B, Church of England section of Lawlers Cemetery.
