Biography

Little Meta's father, James Joseph Parnell Murphy, was born 16 June 1886 in Bombala, New South Wales (Birth Registration 26749/1886).  He married Eva May Nettleton in 1920 at Geraldton.  She was born 7 May 1897 at Jarrahdale in Western Australia.  Meta May was their first child.  The couple then had two sons: William James born 16 Jun 1924 in Donnybrook; James Joseph Parnell born 6 March 1926 at Donnybrook.

James Joseph Snr died 16 December 1929 at Northampton (Death Registration 5000010/1929, Northampton).  He was aged just 43 years.

Her two aunts, Margaret and Marion Mary, are both represented in this website.

Comments:After considerable on ground research in conjunction with the locals OGM has come to the conclusion that Meta May was buried at the old Murphy homestead/farm. The Death Certificate showed that she was buried in Ajana (Pindadanno) cemetery but the Shire of Northampton have no record of anyone being buried there – nor do the older locals!
So OGM will issue the plaque as ‘Near Here Lies’ and place it at the old homestead site.
Approval to proceed has been given from the current farm owner, Bob Porter, and Kim Murphy, a relative.
